Engaging the supply chain in people, planet and community

Success Story: Lyreco

  • 90%  OF SALES TO COME FROM SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTS BY 2026

Lyreco, a leading supplier of office supplies and workplace services and Manchester Climate Change Partnership member, has proven to be an exemplary organisation when it comes to supplier engagement.

As part of its Goodness programme, the company has a strict target to ensure that 90% of its sales come from products classed as sustainable by 2026.

To meet this target, in 2023 Lyreco launched a new Sustainable Selections process to assess the sustainability credentials of its suppliers and products.

Suppliers are each asked to complete a Sustainable Supplier Assessment, which asks them about their environmental, social and governance initiatives.

The recyclability of product packaging is also scored, and product themselves are assessed based on how they are manufactured, how they support the health and wellbeing of the user, and how they support the wider community. Products gaining approval under at least one of these pillars make it into Lyreco’s Sustainable Selections.

As a Social Enterprise UK Support Member, Lyreco is also committed to elevating social enterprises and micro businesses in its supply chain. Its supplier support programme provides free support for up to 10 social enterprises or micro businesses, worth around £25,000 per supplier.
